“Nourishing Paws” Pet Pantry

Keeping Pets with the Families Who Love Them

The Humane Society of Northwest Montana’s Pet Pantry provides free pet food and supplies to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. Our goal is simple — to help pets stay in their homes, where they are loved, and out of shelters.

When times get tough, no one should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pet. The Pet Pantry offers a safety net for our community’s pet owners, ensuring that dogs and cats continue to receive the care they deserve.

What We Provide

The Pet Pantry is stocked through generous donations from our community and local partners. Available items vary, but we typically offer:

  • Dry and canned puppy and dog food
  • Dry and canned kitten and cat food
  • Cat litter
  • Occasional basic supplies such as treats, bowls, and puppy pads

Who Can Receive Assistance

The Pet Pantry is open to anyone in the Flathead Valley who needs temporary support to care for their pets, including:

  • Individuals and families facing financial challenges
  • Seniors on fixed incomes
  • Those experiencing housing instability
  • Victims of disaster, illness, or unexpected life events

There are no strict income requirements — we simply ask that recipients use the pantry when truly needed so that we can assist as many households as possible.

How It Works

  1. Check availability: No application fee or proof of income is required.
  2. Pick up supplies: Pantry distribution takes place during our normal operation hours (see below). Walk-ins are welcome during open hours, or you can call ahead to schedule a pickup.
  3. Return as needed: If you continue to need support, you may return monthly while supplies last.
