Great Fish Community Challenge
Fish 5K Fun Run and Fair

KALISPELL, MT – The Humane Society of Northwest Montana is proud to be selected as one of the 33 nonprofit organizations that will participate in the first annual Whitefish Community Foundation’s Great Fish Community Challenge.  Kicking off on June 9, this annual charitable giving campaign offers participating nonprofits the opportunity to earn a matching grant up to $15,000.

Designed to maximize donations, the Whitefish Community Foundation will put a minimum of $150,000 into a matching grant, known as the Great Fish Fund and stretch those dollars across the total pool of donations raised by the nonprofits collectively.  The community’s donations plus the matching funds will be awarded at the end of the Challenge.

The Great Fish Community Challenge goals are to help nonprofits raise mission awareness while maximizing donations with a matching grant and to encourage community-wide participation. As an added benefit to participating nonprofits, the Community Foundation will cover all credit card and processing fees so donors can have confidence that 100 percent of their donation, plus the matching grant, will go directly to their favorite nonprofits.

The marketing and administrative costs will be covered by the Whitefish Community Foundation and the Great Fish Community Challenge sponsors; First Interstate Bank, Parkside Credit Union, National Parks Realty, Glacier Bank, The Iron Horse Foundation, JCCS, CPA’s, Big Sky IV and Compounding Pharmacy and Don K Subaru.

The Great Fish Community Challenge will culminate with a celebratory Community Fair and Fish 5K Fun Run in Depot Park on September 12.  To participate, obtain an official donor form or make an online donation, see: Official donor forms will also be available at all local downtown Whitefish businesses, the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, the Humane Society or any of the offices of participating nonprofits.
